Russia is preparing to launch the first modernized remote sensing satellite from the "Resurs-PM" series in 2025. They will replace similar "Resurs-P" devices - the last satellites of this series will be launched in 2024 and 2025.
Earth remote sensing satellites are used for compiling and editing maps, monitoring the environment, and searching for potential mineral deposits. "Resurs-PM", in addition, will be able to:
- detect the launch and flight of rockets;
- find and identify space debris;
- work as a telescope;
- receive high-resolution images - compared to their predecessors, these satellites will have a shooting resolution of 0.4 m, and not 1 m;
- process more data due to the RPC polynomial equipment - a tool to improve accuracy and speed up the data processing process;
- conduct stereoscopic shooting to create 3D models.
Work is also continuing on other satellites. Thus, the second radar spacecraft"Condor-FKA" for all-weather and round-the-clock monitoring of the Earth will be launched into orbit this year. Work is also being completed on the manufacture of the radar remote sensing satellite "Obzor-R".
