Russia and Belarus have signed a memorandum on expanding cooperation in the use of peaceful atom. As part of this project, Rosatom has pledged to build a research reactor in the republic.
The document was signed in St. Petersburg by Rosatom head Alexey Likhachev and the head of the State Committee on Science and Technology (GKNT) of Belarus, Sergei Shlychkov. In addition to the reactor, a complex of laboratories and a nuclear medicine center will appear in the republic.
The Russian corporation will help colleagues from Belarus with digitalization, modernization of industry, including through robotization, the use of additive technologies and printing from composites.
The parties will pay great attention to solving the problem of radioactive waste disposal. Rosatom and the State Committee on Science and Technology will also cooperate in the field of non-nuclear energy.
Rosatom is a world leader in the construction of nuclear power plants. The company is implementing projects in China, India, Turkey, Bangladesh, Bolivia.
