PJSC "KADVI" continues to contribute to the Russian tank industry. In mid-December, they resumed large-scale production of GTD-1250TF gas turbine engines for the Russian T-80 tank with a capacity of 1250 horsepower. However, it became known that work is underway to modify these already powerful engines to 1400 hp and up to 1500 hp.
In the GTD-1250TF, the gas temperature can be increased to 1360K and short-term afterburning to 1400 hp. The modification of the GTD-1400TF can be brought up to 1500 hp if the compression ratio is increased by 5.6% and the air flow by 6.8% compared to the GTD-1250.
At the same time, Russian tank models will outperform Western and American tanks with similar diesel and gas turbine engines in terms of power, including the "M1 Abrams". They will be lighter and more maneuverable by more than twenty tons, but will retain their protection characteristics, and will become the most powerful in the world.
T-80 tanks were produced at the Omsk Plant of Transport Engineering, which is now part of the Uralvagonzavod concern, from 1979 to 1991. In October of this year, the management of Uralvagonzavod reported that it may resume their production.
In just 17 seconds, a tank of this model accelerates to 50 km/h, while it does not have to stop to fire. T-80s are known as "flying": they can make jumps of up to 14 meters while moving. They also approach the enemy almost silently.
Since 2016, according to the instructions of the Ministry of Defense, T-80s have been deconserved and modernized from warehouses. For example, T-80BVMs with increased firepower and improved handling and T-80UE-1, which is equipped with a thermal imaging sight that increases the ability to fire from a 125-mm cannon, appeared.
