Russian artillerymen have "Penicillin" sound-thermal artillery reconnaissance systems (developed at the "Vector" Research Institute) at their disposal, which recognize enemy group targets and confirm their destruction. This was reported in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The station is designed to detect the enemy using acoustics, to notice enemy exits - volleys of cannons, howitzers, HIMARS. The received coordinates are transmitted to the command post
According to him, after receiving the coordinates, the artillery strikes at the objects, and then tracks the result of the impacts.
The "Penicillin" complex consists of:
- Sound receiver
- Optoelectronic module
The system processes acoustic signals from shots and provides data on the location of the ammunition explosion and the accuracy of the hit. The time it takes for "Penicillin" to obtain the coordinates of a single target is 5 seconds. The complex has been supplied to the Russian Armed Forces since 2020.
It was previously reported that Russian armored vehicles began to install the "Lesochek" electronic warfare systems.
