KamAZ CEO Sergey Kogogin announced that the company plans to design its own tourist bus in 2024. He made this statement at the "Russia Calling!" investment forum in Moscow.
According to Kogogin, with the growth of domestic tourism, products in this segment will be in demand. In July 2023, representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia agreed with KamAZ to create a working group for the production of domestic tourist buses.
At the end of last year, the Russian Union of the Tourism Industry pointed out the shortage of transport for transporting tourists, as well as the difficulties in servicing foreign buses due to sanctions. The union proposed to establish their production in Russia or subsidize purchases from friendly countries.
KamAZ engineers have extensive experience in creating buses. The company has developed its own electric buses, which already operate on routes in several cities in Russia, and also presented buses for shift workers transportation.
