The large landing ships of the modernized Project 11711 Vladimir Andreev and Vasily Trushin, which are currently under construction at the Yantar shipyards, will receive new hangars for basing a squadron of latest Ka-52M attack helicopters on board.
This is reported by the TASS news agency, citing its sources in the military-industrial complex, and noting that the agency has not yet received official confirmation of this.
According to the source, such an enlarged hangar will accommodate either up to four Ka-52Ms with Kh-35 anti-ship missiles, or five Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopters for searching and destroying submarines.
Earlier this week, TASS, also citing its sources in the military-industrial complex, and noting the absence of official confirmation of such information, wrote that the modernized Project 11711 will be supplemented by at least two ships. However, such information had already been voiced in the media before, and no official public refutation from USC had been received.
