The modernized Large Landing Ship (LLS) of Project 11711, named "Vladimir Andreev," is preparing to be launched and subsequently transferred to the Russian Navy in 2024. A TASS source in the shipbuilding industry reported that the vessel is currently on the stocks at the Yantar Baltic Shipbuilding Plant, where final preparations are being made before its launch.
According to the source, a number of necessary production tasks are planned to be completed before the end of the current year. After launching, the ship will begin sea trials and will be transferred to the Navy by the end of next year.
Representatives of the Yantar shipyard previously reported that the ships "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin," built in April 2019, differ significantly from the basic Project 11711 LLS, which led to a revision of construction schedules and their modernization.
Currently, the Russian Navy already operates two LLSs of the basic Project 11711 - "Ivan Gren" and "Petr Morgunov." According to preliminary data, everything indicates an increase in the size of the ships built according to the revised technical project, and an increase in their displacement to 7-8 thousand tons. These ships are capable of transporting up to 13 main battle tanks or up to 36 armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, as well as a battalion of marines.
According to the provided data, the characteristics of the basic Project 11711 LLS are as follows: displacement - 5,000 tons, hull length - 120 m, width - 16.5 m. Speed reaches up to 18 knots. The crew consists of 100 people.
The ship is armed with two 30-mm six-barreled AK-630 artillery systems and one twin AK-630M-2. A Ka-27 search and rescue helicopter or a Ka-29 transport and combat helicopter is also based on board.
It should be noted that TASS has not received official confirmation of this information.
