The Nizhny Novgorod region is actively working on expanding the range of manufactured cars. At the same time, the emergence of its own brand is not excluded, said the governor of the region, Gleb Nikitin.

For the period from January to September 2023, production volumes in the region increased by 10% compared to last year. We are talking about the production of light commercial vehicles and buses at the GAZ facilities. At the same time, the production of components for cars is increasing.

In general, the automotive industry, according to Nikitin, has become much stronger. Now it is not so dependent on the political situation, various suppliers, and manufacturers have more opportunities, he concluded.
In June 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation announced the possible revival of the "Volga" brand. Production could start in the summer of 2024. Experts believe that it is best to restart production at the GAZ facilities in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Earlier it was reported that GAZ sued Romanov Motors for almost 4 million rubles for using the logo without permission.
