Russian "Orlan" drones have begun to automatically identify enemy equipment

The "Orlan" drones, developed by the St. Petersburg-based Special Technological Center LLC (under Western sanctions), have received artificial intelligence (AI) technologies that help automatically identify enemy military equipment during reconnaissance, including samples from the NATO military-political bloc, according to an informed source.

According to him, the new intelligent system determines the types of equipment with an accuracy of up to 90%. This increases the speed of destruction of enemy military facilities.

The Russian Armed Forces are armed with Orlan-10 and Orlan-30 reconnaissance drones. In the summer of 2023, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that deliveries of reconnaissance drones for the army had increased 53 times.

Launching a drone «Орлан»

Drones operate around the clock and are particularly effective. The take-off weight reaches 18 kg, the payload weight is 3 kg. "Orlan" can stay in flight for 10 hours and fly up to 100 km.

Earlier it was reported that a system is being tested in St. Petersburg that will allow determining the approach of drones of the «Орлан» type.
