Engineers from Tomsk from the Research Institute of AEM TUSUR developed a sample of a smart battery for the first satellite of the Marathon-IoT group in just in 5 months (it will serve the internet of things - editor's note www1.ru). By 2027, their number is planned to be increased to 100, as reported by the research institute.

The customer of the battery is JSC Reshetnev (the company, in cooperation with the Perm NOC Rational Subsoil Use, is implementing the Marathon-IoT project - editor's note www1.ru). The necessary tests of the new battery have already been carried out at the enterprise. It is noted that it includes lithium-iron-polymer battery elements, which work at a sharp temperature drop in the range -20°C…+60 °C.

A special electronic circuit ensures reliable operation of the battery, which is triggered in emergency situations. The operating life of the smart battery is at least 5 years.

At the beginning of October, Roscosmos announced that the first domestic satellite for the Marathon-IoT project will be launched on December 26. It will be delivered to orbit by the Soyuz-2 rocket, which will launch from the Vostochny cosmodrome. And information about the launch was also confirmed by JSC Reshetnev.

The group for the Internet of Things will include 264 devices with engines developed by the Fakel Design Bureau, they will be placed on 12 orbits. Mass launches of satellites are scheduled for 2024-2028.
