Russian combat robots BR-1 and BRG-1 will become smarter

AI will help BR-1 and BRG-1 combat robots to be on duty around the clock

The Miner BR-1 ground robotic platforms for mining and BRG-1 for evacuating the wounded, developed in Russia, will receive artificial intelligence (AI), an informed source in the Russian defense industry told.

We are talking about the use of machine vision technologies (a set of methods that allows robots to "see", in particular, using cameras and a thermal imager). Thus, robotic systems will be able to carry out combat duty around the clock without the participation of an operator.

According to the source, AI tests will begin in October. It is expected that the operating range of robotic platforms will increase from 700 m to 3 km, and there will be no need to use a repeater.

Russian military personnel have been using Miner BR-1 and BRG-1 since 2023. It is known that more than 90% of the robots' components are of domestic production.

According to the "Lamp of Knowledge" channel, the BRG-1 can carry cargo up to 100 kg. The robot is able to move over rough terrain and reach speeds of up to 15 km/h.
