The head of Aeroflot, Sergei Alexandrovsky, at the Eastern Economic Forum announced the airline's plans to launch flights to the Chinese island of Hainan this year.
We are planning flights to Hainan. We are now waiting for permission and obtaining slots. We would like to launch them in 2023. The most important deterrent is the unlaunched visa-free regime with China.
In June, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Sergei Alexandrovsky reported that Aeroflot plans to expand its flight program to China: to open additional flights from Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Vladivostok to various cities in China. Flights to Hainan are part of the implementation of this initiative.
The mechanism of visa-free group exchange between Russia and China was relaunched on August 1. Earlier, Aeroflot announced the resumption of regular flights from Moscow to Abu Dhabi.
