Rostec spoke about a new development by the Central Research Institute "Electron" (the institute is part of the "Roselectronica" holding of the state corporation) – a near-IR camera capable of shooting at a distance of up to 20 km in any weather conditions.
The camera operates in the infrared range and can be synchronized with laser illumination, in which case the detection range of objects increases by 3-3.5 times compared to medium- and long-wave cameras.
The principle of operation of the camera is as follows: a photon reflected from detected objects is read by a special sensor in a sealed housing, inside which there is a radiation-sensitive photocathode and an electron-sensitive matrix in a vacuum. This solution simultaneously reduces the amount of noise and increases the resolution of the camera.
Near-IR cameras are in stable demand from both military and civilian customers, as such devices are indispensable for solving a wide range of tasks. For example, our product can be used to detect people on the water during rescue operations.
