MegaFon combines smartwatches and smartphones under one number

The new technology allows you to use smartwatches autonomously, expanding the functionality of gadgets. The service will be available in five regions of Russia

MegaFon has become the first mobile operator in Russia to introduce an innovative technology that allows you to use smartwatches autonomously, without having to be tied to a smartphone. Now smart accessories with eSIM support will be able to make calls, send messages and use mobile Internet even if the smartphone is far away or discharged. This service is already available in five regions of Russia.

The technology allows you to combine a smartwatch with the main number on your smartphone and use them within a single tariff and account. Now there is no need to create an additional number or synchronize devices via Bluetooth. The smartwatch will function independently, even if the smartphone is unavailable.

This innovative solution from MegaFon allows subscribers to use a smartwatch and smartphone independently of each other, while maintaining all the essential functions. This technology will be useful for those who, for example, do not want to take their phone with them on a run or to the gym, but also do not want to miss a call.

Using devices when a smartphone and smartwatch have different numbers is quite inconvenient: this complicates daily communications. It is important for us that subscribers are as comfortable as possible using mobile services on any device, which is why we developed a new service. It allows you to link a smartphone and smartwatch with eSIM to one number. Now you can enjoy walking, running, swimming and stay connected, even if your phone is left at home or discharged.

The service is available on all tariff plans and can be connected at the MegaFon store. At the first stage of the project, it will be possible to "duplicate" the number for watches in Tula, Penza, Cheboksary, Orel and Saratov. But the operator's press service assures that the service will gradually expand to other regions of Russia. Similar technology has already been successfully used in other countries, but it is new for Russia.

The subscription fee for the service ranges from 100 to 200 rubles per month and is debited in full on the day of connection, then once every 30 days. The cost of the service depends on the region of connection.
