Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the Future Technologies Forum, held in Moscow. He visited the exhibition of Russian achievements in the field of quantum technology development. The head of state was accompanied by the CEO of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev, the CEO of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov, and the co-founder of the Russian Quantum Center Ruslan Yunusov.
Vladimir Putin was shown a 16-qubit quantum computer on ions, on which the algorithm for calculating a molecule has been launched using a cloud platform - its real-time simulation. At the moment, this is the most powerful quantum computer in the country. It was created as part of the implementation of the 'road map' for quantum calculations by a team of scientists from the Russian Quantum Center and the I.P. Lebedev Physical institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences coordinated by Rosatom.
Vladimir Putin was told about the key elements of the quantum computers component base, quantum sensors and developments in the field of quantum communications. The president was also demonstrated the capabilities of quantum communications with the connection in the video conference mode of the Central Control and Monitoring Center of the main quantum network of Russian Railways: a session of communication with subscribers in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod using the inter-university quantum network also took place.
