The US Department of Justice reported the detention of 20-year-old native of Chechnya Ruslan Astamirov, he has already been charged with conspiracy to carry out attacks using LockBit ransomware on American and foreign companies.

"[This is] a charge of conspiracy with intention to commit fraud using electronic means of communication, as well as conspiracy with the intention to intentionally damage protected computers and send ransom demands", - announced in the Department of Justice. In total Ruslan risks up to 25 years imprisonment.

"At least from August 2020 to March 2023, Astamirov could participate in a conspiracy to commit fraud using electronic means of communication and intentional damage to protected computers, as well as in making ransom demands through the use and deployment of ransomware programs",- added the US Department of Justice.
