Russian Railways subsidiary, RZD Logistics, and Fesco have entered into an agreement to cooperate on the creation of a joint RailJet service for expedited cargo delivery from China. Goods will be transported along the Moscow - Manzhouli - Moscow route.
«RailJet will be relevant for clients from high-tech industries and companies involved in cross-border online commerce. This is a service for goods that are sensitive to delivery times, which are usually transported by air, as well as devices containing lithium-ion batteries, which are mainly transported by sea», – said Russian Railways. The company spoke about the main advantages of the new service. These include delivery speed (up to five days), regularity of departures (twice a week), as well as optimal transportation costs and maximum guarantee of cargo safety.
«The transport and logistics services market has undergone serious changes, and it is important, taking these transformations into account, to offer cargo owners a worthy replacement for what has ceased to work effectively. The fundamentally new RailJet service will be an alternative to air cargo in terms of delivery times and will be much more profitable for shippers in terms of cost. In the context of sanctions pressure, such a logistics product will be in demand», – said Dmitry Murev, General Director of RZD Logistics JSC.
