Alexander Smirnov, former CEO of NPO “Splav” named after A. N. Ganichev (part of “Rostec”), announced that for the first time the enterprise plans to replace some of the metal components in ammunition for multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) with composites.
Replacing metal with composite material will make rockets for MLRS cheaper and speed up production. The rockets themselves will become lighter, and hence, more long-range.
NPO “Splav” from Tula is the leading organization in the development of MLRS of ground and marine basing. It is the one that produces “Grad”, “Smerch”, “Uragan”, “Tornado” systems.
