A laboratory has appeared at the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University LETI, where innovative materials will be developed for advanced communication systems and radars based on ultra-high frequencies.

«Our laboratory will provide a complete technological cycle for creating new microwave devices based on film and bulk composites — from searching for and studying the structure of promising materials to their synthesis and implementation of specific devices, which we will bring to our industrial partners», — said the head of the laboratory, Professor of the Department of Physical Electronics and Technology of LETI, Andrey Tumarkin.

In the laboratory, specialists will study promising oxide materials in two main directions: films that serve as the basis for miniature microwave components (capacitors, filters, phase shifters), as well as bulk composite materials (ferroelectrics mixed with special glass).

The laboratory is equipped with installations for applying thin dielectric coatings and metal contacts, equipment for photolithography and ion etching, as well as an atomic force microscope.
