Tests of the improved AK-12 assault rifle will be completed in Russia in June. The chief designer of the Kalashnikov concern, Sergei Urzhumtsev, spoke about the differences between the AK-12 2023 and its predecessor.
The new version received a two-way safety switch, and it became possible to lock the bolt carrier when the safety is on. The sight has changed: the new rear sight has two positions - one for shooting at the range of a direct shot, the second - for shooting at a longer range.
The AK-12 2023 received a modernized buttstock with an adjustable cheek and a new forend, which has become stronger and more ergonomic. Also among the improvements is a non-removable flash suppressor-compensator, which, if necessary, can be supplemented with a removable silent firing device.
The first batch for experimental military operation of the AK-12 2023 is already ready for transfer to the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
