Moscow started testing the electric GAZelle e-City minibus

It will be used where electric buses are not needed

The electric passenger minibus GAZelle e-City has been put on trial in Moscow. The minibus will run from "Ozyornaya Metro Station" to "Govorovo Metro Station" (route 883). It was decided to test it on a line typical for this type of transport: where there is no high traffic and narrow streets that are not suitable for full-size electric buses.

The GAZelle e-City is equipped with one electric motor with a peak power of 100 kW, which drives the rear wheels. There are two traction batteries with a capacity of 81 kWh (range - about 150 km). The minibus is equipped with climate control, a video surveillance system, and USB ports for charging passenger gadgets. Interestingly, the heater in the e-City is methane-powered, and the cylinders are located inside the frame for safety reasons. This is done specifically so that the energy stored in the traction battery will not be used to heat the cabin in winter. By the way, the traction battery has a heating system, which is very important for the Russian climate.
