As stated by "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" referring to a study conducted by Auto.ru, since the beginning of 2021, the number of advertisements for the sale of new Chinese cars in Russia has increased by 15 times. Meanwhile, the share of Chinese brands among all new cars has increased from 5 to 43% over the same period.
Chinese vehicles on the secondary market have become "younger": now Chinese cars being sold are on average up to 6 years old, while in 2021 and early 2022 primarily nine-year-old ones were encountered. The average mileage of a Chinese car has decreased to 75-80 thousand kilometers from 100-120 thousand two years earlier.
"We can see that more than half (58%) of Chinese cars with mileage are "fresh", not older than five years. At the same time, the most significant part of them — 74% — are not more than two years old. In the near future, used Chinese cars will keep becoming "younger" as the sales of new Chinese cars are growing right now", — told Alexey Mukhanov, the head of research and customer analytics group at Auto.ru.
The average price of a Chinese used car is more than 1.6 million rubles. It's 62% higher than a year ago, and five times higher than at the beginning of 2021. Regarding the average cost of a new Chinese car, it is 3.2 million rubles — twice as much as in January 2021.
