The. National Technology Initiative Fund reported about the first domestic 5G base station - it was developed at the Skoltech institute with the support of the NTI Fund as part of the Digital Economy state program supervised by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia. The device (hardware and software complex) was created over three years, with a cost of 342 million rubles. By the end of 2023, it is planned to assemble 100 such base stations.
Developers say that in its characteristics it is comparable to foreign samples: The 4.4-4.99 GHz range is supported, peak data transfer speed reaches 1.4 Gbps.
"Thanks to the modular design of the base station and support for modern functionality, the development has export potential. Several friendly countries have already expressed interest in the project", - reported in the NTI Fund.
"Last year, the solution successfully passed comprehensive testing in an independent laboratory with three major operators' participation under the control of the Open Networking Technologies Association. Currently, negotiations are underway with market players to deploy pilot 5G zones based on the development. Project launches are planned for 2023-2024", - added in the NTI Fund.
Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development planned to conduct pilot testing of 5G networks in millionaire cities using Russian base stations in 2025.
