According to foreign analysts, Russia is allegedly increasing the production of modernized Kh-101s to hundreds per year, and new long-range Kh-BDs ("product 506") in batches of several dozen. There is no official confirmation of these volumes, so this information should be treated with caution, explained the authors of the "Technosphere Russia" portal.
Defense Industry is Growing
Foreign publications claim that about 525 modernized Kh-101s were produced in 2024, and up to 700 in 2025.
If such volumes are close to reality, this significantly increases the rate of replenishment of aviation ammunition.
At the same time, a number of materials note that the Kh-101 modification could receive an increased warhead weighing up to 800 kg, with a simultaneous reduction in fuel volume and a decrease in the maximum range to about 3,000 km.
Kh-BD ("product 506") - What is it?
The Kh-BD version is positioned as a longer-range and more modern cruise missile - in open mentions, its range is indicated as more than 6,500 km.
The missile is approximately comparable in size to the serial Kh-101, but due to increased fuel and/or load characteristics, a larger mass is assumed.
Foreign data reports that about 32 Kh-BD missiles were manufactured in 2024. A number of publications also include plans to produce similar batches in 2026.
The alleged carriers are Tu-95MSM or Tu-160 bombers. The Tu-95MSM can have external suspension of up to 8 Kh-101s, the Tu-160 - up to 12 in internal compartments, but only if the dimensions of the new missile do not exceed the size of the Kh-101. With a larger mass, the number of ammunition on board may decrease, theoretically - up to 8 units.
Why These Figures Should Be Treated With Caution
Many publications refer to "unidentified", "leaked" or "stolen" documents, so it is difficult to verify the reliability of such materials.
In addition, there are different approaches in the methodology of calculations - the number of allegedly produced missiles may include both finished products and semi-finished products, parts or production orders.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a Russian tank was equipped with incredibly dense anti-drone protection.
