"Long queue of old T-72As near "Uralvagonzavod"": Wirtualna Polska shows satellite images of Nizhny Tagil

Military analyst Tomczak: Soviet T-72As are inferior to German Leopard 2A4 and Leopard 1A5 tanks

OSINT analysts (open source intelligence) studied satellite images of Nizhny Tagil, which allegedly depict"long queues of old T-72A tanks" near "Uralvagonzavod". This was written by military expert of Wirtualna Polska Mateusz Tomczak.

Previously, Russia mainly repaired tanks from the 1980s-1990s. These included T-72B, T-80B and T-80BV. However, their fleet is dwindling.
Mateusz Tomczak, military expert

Tomczak claims that the T-72As were stored in open warehouses, so their technical condition leaves much to be desired.

The military expert cites the opinion of a colleague from Defense Romania.

The repair of the T-72A testifies to Russia's main strategy - to compensate for technological inferiority with numbers.
Defense Romania

But, as the author of Defense Romania notes, even serviceable T-72As do not pose a particular threat to Western combat vehicles. Outdated German Leopard 2A4 and Leopard 1A5 tanks have higher offensive capabilities than Soviet tanks, he concluded.
