The multirole, super-maneuverable Su-35S fighter is used to cover helicopters and strike aircraft, conduct precision air strikes, and detect enemy air defense systems. It is one of the best Russian combat platforms in the Russian Aerospace Forces, writes military expert Brandon J. Weichert in an article for The National Interest.
Of course, the Su-57 is technically superior to the Su-35S, but the Russian Aerospace Forces more often use the super-maneuverable 4++ generation fighter. It has excellent aerodynamic characteristics that can provide a tactical advantage in battles with Western aircraft.
According to the expert, Russia has begun to use the Su-35S for radar reconnaissance. These functions were previously assigned to the A-50U.
Foreign buyers lined up for the fighter. These include China, Indonesia, and Algeria. Success in foreign markets suggests that the Su-35S has gained a reputation as a world-class fighter and has become a symbol of Russia's aviation prowess.
