Important changes that affect drivers came into force on June 1. We tell you what will become more expensive, where they will start to fine and who will be affected by the new restrictions.
Travel on the Moscow High-Speed Diameter
From June 1, travel on the Moscow High-Speed Diameter section during peak hours has increased to 7 rubles. This is 40% more than before, when the price was 5 rubles. According to the Moscow Department of Transport, such changes are aimed at redistributing traffic during the day.
From February 15, 2025, toll travel was introduced on this transport highway. According to the Department of Transport, on weekdays, travel on the Moscow High-Speed Diameter remains free 70% of the time. In addition, travel is free on weekends and holidays.
Evacuation and storage of cars
From June 1, the fee for evacuating cars to impound lots has increased. Now, for the evacuation of a low-power car or motorcycle (up to 80 hp), you will have to pay 7,600 rubles, instead of the previous 7,200 rubles. Evacuation of medium-power cars (from 80 to 250 hp) will increase to 11,400 rubles - this is 500 rubles more than now. For cars with engines more powerful than 250 hp, the tariffs remain unchanged so far.
The cost of storing evacuated cars in special parking lots will also increase. The minimum daily rate will increase to 1210 rubles, instead of the previous 1150.
The cost of the most expensive tariff will reach 2893 rubles. The first day of storage will remain free.
Fines for winter tires
From June 1, Russia is monitoring the seasonality of tires. Now, traffic police officers will be able to fine drivers who drive on winter tires in the summer. The basis for this will be the provision from the list of malfunctions approved in 2023. This list prohibits the operation of vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons under certain conditions.
In summer, from June 1 to September 1, it will be forbidden to drive cars with studded winter tires. Violators face a fine of 500 rubles. This is done to prevent damage to the asphalt and ensure safety on the roads. Studs worsen grip on warm surfaces and increase braking distance.
Friction tires, known as "Velcro", can be used in the warm season without restrictions. However, winter tires are not designed for high temperatures. It is softer than summer tires, wears out faster and behaves worse on hot asphalt, which reduces driving safety.
