A visual comparison of the speed characteristics of the domestic medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) "Oreshnik" with other similar hypersonic missiles has appeared online. The video also includes an analysis of the characteristics of the Russian "Kinzhal" and "Zircon" missiles of air and sea basing, respectively.
Oreshnik MRBM
The combat units of the Oreshnik MRBM complex travel to the target along a grazing trajectory at altitudes within 150 km. As a result, they reach a speed of 13,475 km/h, which corresponds to 12M.
When the warhead separates and descends below 80 km, the Oreshnik combat units, even with a partial decrease in speed to 10M due to aerodynamic drag, become unreachable for the SM-3 anti-missiles and the Patriot PAC-3 SAM systems with maximum target engagement speeds of about 7.5M.
Kh-47M2 Kinzhal
The maximum speed of the Kinzhal in the final section of the flight can reach 11,000 km/h (10M). With an average approach speed of 4,500 km/h on approach, the missile can perform anti-aircraft maneuvers with overloads of up to 25G, and is also likely equipped with a radio-electronic warfare complex of the centimeter wave range.
3M22 Zircon
The 3M22 Zircon hypersonic missile accelerates to 11,000 km/h (10.35 Mach) in the upper layers of the stratosphere (30 - 35 km). Thanks to the continuous operation of the ramjet engine, the speed from 9 to 11 thousand km/h can be maintained for most of the trajectory. But at altitudes below 10 km, when approaching targets, it can decrease to 4 - 5M due to the same drag.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the manufacturer of advanced missiles for Su-57 fighters will expand production.
