Накликать беду: россиянам подробно объяснили, чем грозит продажа своей банковской карты

The most severe punishment for such sales is criminal liability

Selling one's own bank card can result not only in deception by fraudsters for Russians, but also in serious difficulties in finding employment in the future. And in the worst case, even criminal prosecution. This was reported by the financial expertise center of Roskachestvo.

In Telegram groups, in gaming chats, you can find offers to buy bank cards. After withdrawing all funds from the card, fraudsters can take out a loan on the owner, which he will also have to pay (the person in whose name the card is registered - ed.).

When applying for a job, the company's security service may discover that the candidate was involved in a fraudulent scheme. This can be a serious obstacle to employment. In the worst case, a criminal case may be opened against the person who sold their bank card under the article on fraud. Proving one's innocence in the scams, if they were carried out using that very card, will not be easy.

Fraudsters acquire bank cards for fraud: processing loans, participating in financial pyramids, and laundering criminal proceeds. Some of them only buy access to online banking, but there are also offers that include a complete set - from a plastic card to a SIM card with a linked phone number. Prices for such "services" range from 3 to 50 thousand rubles.

Nevertheless, there are formally no restrictions on the sale of cards, especially for those who are looking for an opportunity to earn money quickly, Roskachestvo's financial expertise center noted. Such people issue new cards and then transfer them to buyers. However, when concluding an agreement with the bank, a ban is established on the disclosure of confidential data, including the PIN code, password from the online account, CVV, and code words. Thus, if a client transfers this information to third parties, he violates the rules for using the card, and the bank may block it.

Roskachestvo gave advice in case the card has already been sold:

  • Contact the bank immediately and report that your card has fallen into the hands of fraudsters. Ask to block the card and change the password in your personal account.
  • Contact the police and tell them what happened. Be sure to provide all known contacts of the attackers, which will help in the investigation.

Earlier, Russians were warned that before the start of the session, fraudsters came up with a new tricky scheme to deceive Russian students. They impersonate employees of the dean's office and even special services. Thus, a call "from the university" deprived one student of 700,000 rubles.
