Patrol ships of Project 22160 (the lead ship is "Vasily Bykov") of the Black Sea Fleet have proven effective in combating maritime drones (unmanned boats). The ships possess unique combat capabilities.
Project 22160 was developed by specialists from the Northern Design Bureau (Severnoye PKB). Initially, the patrol ship was conceived as a "workhorse of the fleet" for patrolling the waters of naval bases and protecting maritime infrastructure.
In reality, it turned out that the ships of Project 22160 are versatile and can fight against surface and underwater enemy ships, strike at sea and land targets, and escort transport convoys. In addition, they support corvettes and frigates in the performance of combat missions.
Characteristics of Project 22160:
- Length — 94.1 m
- Width — 14 m
- Displacement — 1500 t

The patrol ship is armed with "Kalibr" or Kh-35 missiles, an AK-176MA artillery mount, and an MTPU-1 "Zhalo" machine gun. The ship carries "Igla-S" or "Verba" missiles.
Ships of Project 22160 have been under construction since 2014. As of 2024, 4 ships have been built: "Vasily Bykov", "Dmitry Rogachev", "Pavel Derzhavin", "Sergey Kotov". They are part of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation. "Viktor Veliky" is undergoing factory trials, and another ship is under construction.
