Russian T-90M "Proryv-3" main battle tanks are protected from enemy kamikaze drone attacks by the "Volnorez" electronic warfare (EW) system. Military analyst Evgeny Damantsev spoke about the advantages of the system.
The complex operates in the frequency range from 0.9 to 3 GHz. It is capable of suppressing telemetry communication channels and video image transmission from optoelectronic drone devices to the operator's combat control points (CCP).
Complete loss of synchronization between enemy copters and the CCP usually occurs at a distance of 50-250 m from the target. In most cases, this excludes the operator's choice of the most vulnerable armor sector of the tanks for striking with a cumulative warhead of a PG-7VL rocket-propelled grenade.
The "Volnorez" EW complex has entered the stage of mass production and is supplied to the combat units of the Russian Armed Forces.
Technical characteristics of the "Volnorez" EW system from open sources:
- Weight - 13 kg
- Length - 48.4 cm
- Height - 20.2 cm
- Diameter (without handles) - 38.4 cm
- Voltage - 12-30 V
- Radiation power - 30 W
- Temperature - from -40 to +60
Earlierwww1.ru wrote that a Russian military man modernized the standard antenna of the EW station. The radius of suppression of drone signals has further increased.
