VK network availability dropped to 56% after a drone attack on a data center in the Leningrad Region, NetBlocks reported. Users complained about disruptions, but the company claims that VKontakte is available as usual.

According to monitoring data, from October 5 to 17, the availability of VK's network infrastructure remained at 98–100%. On October 18, the indicator plummeted by 44 percentage points. NetBlocks measures the company's network availability from the internet, not the percentage of users who lost access to the social network.
Phishman CEO Alexey Gorelkin noted in an interview with Business FM: after the Yandex incident, cloud providers began rehearsing recovery plans and distributing backups. VK was either prepared from the start or prepared well. There was no domino effect for VK. The company has several data centers spread across regions, so one affected data center did not bring down the entire network.
The MAX messenger, developed by VK, continued to operate normally — its infrastructure is located in Russia, but, apparently, not at this site.
The VK data center in the Leningrad Region was attacked. The regional governor reported 126 downed drones, with debris falling on residential buildings.
