The companies "SET" and "Gazoil" acquired ten gas-powered KAMAZ-54901 tractors — the flagship model of the new generation K5. The vehicles run on compressed natural gas (CNG).

The tractors are designed for transporting dangerous goods and operating as part of a road train up to 44 tons. They provide optimal fuel efficiency and high effectiveness in long-haul transportation, retaining all the advantages of the diesel version: power, reliability, and driver comfort. At the same time, the use of gas reduces fuel costs and atmospheric emissions.

In April 2025, we reported how the KAMAZ-54901 LNG long-haul tractor was handed over for two months of test operation to the logistics company ITECO for container transportation; it was also reported then that the production of this modification started in September 2024, and the annual plan exceeded 700 units.

In the summer of 2025, the KAMAZ-54901 LNG successfully completed monthly tests in the fleet of the transport company "Volga"; the vehicle confirmed fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness, and the range on two cryo-tanks reached 1600 km.

By 2026, the production of new generation gas-powered tractors reached a different scale — we wrote that KAMAZ-54901 LNG began to be assembled in thousands: the plan was 2100 vehicles. The current delivery of ten tractors to "SET" and "Gazoil" continues this line, but with an important difference: the vehicles run on compressed natural gas and are designed for transporting dangerous goods as part of a road train up to 44 tons.
