In September 2026, sales of Lada Niva Legend in Russia increased by 79.3% compared to August. Dealers sold 4,148 vehicles of this model, according to AvtoVAZ data. However, it is unknown what share of September sales accounted for the updated Niva Legend with the new engine.
The updated Niva Legend went on sale at the end of August 2026. The main change is a new 1.8-liter gasoline engine instead of the previous 1.7-liter one. Power increased from 83 to 90 hp, and torque increased by 24 N·m, reaching 153 N·m.
The car itself has also changed. The Niva Legend received ventilated front brake discs, improved suspension and transmission elements, a driver's front airbag, and other changes.
Some body parts are now made of galvanized steel. The hood, roof, and elements of the rear of the body, in particular, have become protected from corrosion. The average fuel consumption in the combined cycle, according to AvtoVAZ, decreased from 9.9 to 9 liters per 100 km.
Sales growth affected not only the classic Niva. In September, dealers sold 3,832 Lada Niva Travel vehicles — 25.8% more than in August.
In total, AvtoVAZ sold 32,310 Lada passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in a month. This is 10.6% more than in August and 9.4% more than in September 2025. From January to September, sales amounted to 244,626 cars, which is only 0.4% higher than the result for the same period last year.
