Dmitry Duyunov, an engineer from Zelenograd, has developed a scheme for a damaging element that should acquire electrical potential during flight. The design is intended for a bullet or an artillery shell and provides for a special coating on its warhead.

Duyunov proposes using an electropositive adsorbate with a low work function of electrons — from 2.3 to 3.3 eV. According to his idea, when moving at high speed, such a layer should contribute to the electrification of the munition.

The patent states that with a sufficiently high potential between the flying damaging element and a conductive target, a high-voltage discharge can occur.

The engineer gives a reference of about 100 kV and writes that the distance to the obstacle for a discharge to occur can reach 0.5 m.
