Identification of unmanned aerial vehicles through ERA-GLONASS will create conditions for the gradual easing of flight restrictions in the regions. This was stated to TASS by Maxim Chizhov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AO Kitoglav.

According to him, transparency is needed to transition from specific permits to industrial use of drones – in agriculture, infrastructure monitoring, forestry, and logistics. The more conscientious operators work in a controlled digital environment, the more reasons there are to relax prohibitions. For owners, the connection confirms the legality of the flight; for supervisory bodies, it creates a picture of who is flying where.

More than 1,000 users have already connected to the system, and over 1,200 unmanned aerial vehicles have been registered. Among them are about 750 legal entities, including 50 unmanned airlines. Before launch, the system was tested in 40 regions. From October 1, the Ministry of Transport accepts flight plans only when connected to ERA-GLONASS.
