The S-400 'Triumf' anti-aircraft missile systems acquired by Turkey from Russia are 'absolutely incompatible' with American weaponry. This was announced by US Ambassador to Ankara Tom Barrack.
According to him, the US continues to discuss the issue of Turkey's return to the F-35 program.
The use of the Russian S-400 system is absolutely incompatible with the American one. We are facing such an issue for the first time. Congress needs to work on resolving the S-400 problem.
At the same time, Barrack called the S-400 issue solvable and noted that it is not critical for relations between Washington and Ankara.
Media reported that Turkish S-400s could be transferred to the UAE or Qatar, which already have American Patriot SAM systems in service. There has been no official confirmation of such a transfer yet.
In March–May 2026, the Pentagon sent seven notifications to Congress about possible deals with the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar with a total potential value of about $37.245 billion.
