The Novosibirsk region will additionally receive 608.8 million rubles from the federal budget. The funds will be directed to the functioning of the "Siberian Circular Photon Source" (TsKP "SKIF") Shared Use Center. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Alexander Zhukov.

This refers to the start of pilot industrial operation of the accelerator-storage complex and engineering support systems of the TsKP "SKIF", as well as conducting the first experiments, the parliamentarian explained.

Scientists plan to study the structure of titanium-based catalysts necessary for the development of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. The experiment will take place at station 1-7 "Basic methods of synchrotron diagnostics for educational, research and innovative activities of students". It was created with the support of Novosibirsk State University (NSU).

TsKP "SKIF" was opened by President Vladimir Putin on August 11, 2026. Since then, specialists have been gradually putting the equipment into operation. Electron beam circulation and synchrotron radiation will be obtained at the end of September.

With the help of the 4+ generation facility, which works like a "supermicroscope", scientists will be able to study the structure of matter at micro and nano levels, as well as conduct fundamental research in condensed matter physics, materials science, structural biology, and chemistry. The total cost of the project exceeds 76.7 billion rubles.
