On September 12, Rostec announced the transfer of a new batch of T-72B3M and T-90M "Proryv" tanks with enhanced all-round protection to the Russian military. The publication "Voennaya Khronika" explained how the metal anti-drone structure differs from previous models.

The main change concerned the external equipment, which remained one of the most vulnerable parts of the tank. The new lattice structure now has an oval shape and covers the turret from the front and rear.

A separate metal visor appeared above the machine gun. In the aft part of the "mangal", a special box is provided for the electronic warfare complex, which also needs protection from fragments and top attacks.

In some places, the lattice protection looks like intertwined branches, forming a dense cover for individual parts of the tank – in the area of the track shelves and the machine gun mount on the sides.

It should be noted that Uralvagonzavod is actively implementing new protection schemes for combat vehicles. It recently became known that T-80BVM tanks with standard metal cables around the perimeter of the hull, which were called "dreadlocks" online, went into series production.

Despite their simple appearance, they turned out to be very effective against drones, simply preventing the cumulative jet of shells from reaching the main protection.
