The Center for Additive Technologies (CAT, part of Rostec's United Engine Corporation) is developing a unified technological platform for industrial metal 3D printing. It will combine installations with common printing parameters. CAT announced this at "INNOPROM. India."

3D printers from different manufacturers are incompatible: each installation has its own software, settings, and maintenance. Transferring a part to another machine requires re-developing the technology, which increases lead times and costs. The CAT product line will include installations with chambers ranging from compact to large-sized, but with unified lasers, optics, software, calibration, and powder handling. This will provide identical printing parameters on any machine and allow for the certification of serial production as a whole, rather than each individual part.

More than five Russian manufacturers have joined the platform's creation. CAT checks partners' products, conducts pilot operation of machines, and test printing on a medium-sized installation according to roadmaps with Rosatom. Material properties are confirmed with the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center – VIAM.
