USC has designated Proletarsky Zavod in St. Petersburg as the lead enterprise for the creation of low-speed marine engines – this is one of the most important tasks for domestic shipbuilding. This was announced by the corporation's CEO, Andrey Puchkov, at the celebration of the enterprise's 200th anniversary.

Low-speed engines are installed on large-tonnage vessels, and previously Russia was dependent on imports in this area. Funding sources have already been identified, and the plant has begun modernizing and repairing production workshops. In the near future, a program to update the machine park will be launched: some machines will be restored, and some will be purchased anew.

USC intends to return the traditional product range to the enterprise, some of which went to competitors in previous years. The corporation is also working on new directions for the plant's development, which will be announced later – these should ensure stable workload and a significant amount of work for the coming years. At the celebrations in I. V. Babushkin Park in St. Petersburg, 156 employees of the enterprise received awards.
