The self-propelled hopper dredger "Darya", owned by FSUE "Hydrographic Enterprise" (part of Rosatom), has begun dredging operations in the Sabetta seaport. The vessel will ensure the necessary depth of the approach channel for safe navigation.

The dredger "Darya" made a transit from Vladivostok via the Northern Sea Route to the Ob Bay. On its first day of operation, the vessel extracted over 12 thousand cubic meters of soil.

The plan for 2026 for this dredger is to excavate almost 600 thousand cubic meters of soil. Since Sabetta is a freezing port, dredging can only be carried out for no more than 3 months a year.

Due to the constant movement of large-tonnage tankers, sand accumulates at the bottom and the depth decreases. To maintain the parameters necessary for navigation, about 5 million cubic meters of soil must be extracted annually. And over the past 5 years, more than 70 million cubic meters of soil have been excavated and removed in Sabetta.

"Darya" is Rosatom's first specialized vessel. The management of "Hydrographic Enterprise" plans to purchase 9 more units of high-performance dredging equipment. This will allow them to service northern ports.
