The construction of large protective hangars for strategic missile carriers is gradually being completed at the "Engels-2" long-range aviation airfield. The Telegram channel "Voenny Osvedomitel" reported that the dimensions of some structures reach approximately 63 by 63 meters, and their height is about 17 meters. With such parameters, the area of each building approaches 4000 square meters.

The dimensions are well consistent with the size of the aircraft for which the infrastructure is intended. According to OAK, the Tu-160 has a length of 54.1 m, a height of about 13.1 m, and a wingspan at minimum sweep reaches 55.7 m.
In other words, even the largest Russian strategic missile carrier occupies a significant part of the space of such a structure, which explains its unusually large size. The Tu-95MS also has comparable dimensions: the length of the aircraft exceeds 46 m, and the wingspan is about 50 m.
The area of one hangar reaches 3969 m² — this is approximately half of a standard football field. The height of the structure is 17 meters, which allows accommodating a strategic Tu-160 inside.
The purpose of the new structures is indicated not only by their scale. Protective embankments are visible behind the hangars, designed to reduce the impact of the jet stream of operating engines, and taxiways are laid to the shelters themselves.
Collectively, this layout is more consistent with full-fledged heavy aircraft placement and maintenance facilities than with ordinary warehouses.
