Kalashnikov Concern shipped a large batch of 5.45-mm AK-12 assault rifles (2023 model) to the state customer. The manufacturer calls this model the most demanded small arms of the Russian Armed Forces, and attributes the growing production volumes to the high demand for the assault rifle.

The AK-12 (2023 model) is the result of another stage of modernization of the basic design. The Concern continues to make changes to the assault rifle based on feedback from military personnel, improving its characteristics and ergonomics. The updated version has improved accuracy and grouping of fire, and the design is adapted for round-the-clock use.

The AK-12 has been the main individual automatic weapon of Russian servicemen since 2020. The 2023 version received a number of changes compared to previous variants, including a refined diopter sight, an updated safety control system, and a new handguard.

At the same time, interest in other members of the AK family chambered in 5.45×39 and 7.62×39 mm cartridges remains from foreign customers. Against the backdrop of ongoing AK-12 production, the Concern is also developing other modifications of the platform.
