The Gorky Automobile Plant has developed a platform on which it plans to create a wide range of light commercial vehicles. GAZ calls this development the first in Russian automotive engineering. Its design allows for changing the main parameters of future vehicles and using different layout and powertrain options.

The new platform is mentioned in materials for Russian President Vladimir Putin's trip to the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to the company, engineers at the center were involved in its development in 2026.
The main feature of the platform is its high variability. Vehicles with different characteristics and purposes can be created on a single technical basis. The design allows for various layout schemes, changing the wheelbase length and roof height. Different cargo and passenger bodies can also be installed on the platform.
Several drive options are also provided. It is reported that future vehicles will be able to have all-wheel, front-wheel, or rear-wheel drive. In addition, the platform is designed for the installation of all types of powertrains.
The Engineering Center of the Gorky Automobile Plant is one of the leading full-cycle design centers in Russian mechanical engineering. Its structure includes 32 specialized competence centers that deal with key development areas: body, cabin, transmission, interior, and chassis.
