Actor Vsevolod Kuznetsov, who voiced Geralt in the Russian versions of “The Witcher 2” and “The Witcher 3”, refused to participate in the unofficial localization of the new expansion “Ballads of the Past”.

The reason was CD Projekt Red's announcement: the story add-on for “The Witcher 3” will be released without official Russian voice acting. The Russian studio GamesVoice has already hinted that it might prepare its own dubbing, but Kuznetsov does not intend to join such a project.

I believe the decision not to create a Russian version is wrong. Art, this game, the Witcher universe, the Russian language itself – all this unites people, makes them better and nobler.

At the same time, the actor emphasized that he respects the game creators' decision, even if he disagrees with it. According to him, the absence of Russian voice acting now does not mean that official dubbing will not appear later.

Kuznetsov concluded his statement with a quote from Geralt of Rivia: "If I have to choose between one evil and another, I will not choose at all".

The “Ballads of the Past” expansion is planned for release in 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
