"Alisa AI" has learned to recognize handwritten text in photos and convert it into structured notes. The feature is already available on the service's website and in the application, Yandex announced.

Previously, the neural network could also extract text from images, but now it also analyzes the meaning of what is written. "Alisa AI" identifies key ideas, groups them into semantic blocks, adds headings, and formats lists. The finished result can be immediately edited, saved, or sent.

The Alice AI VLM visual-language model is responsible for recognition. According to the developers, it can decipher even hurried handwriting and professional abbreviations — for example, in student notes, work memos, and recipes.

The model also works not only with handwritten text. It is capable of recognizing tables, diagrams, graphs, and other images with a large number of small details.
