Russian parachutist Sergey Boytsov set a world record for a high-altitude jump from a hot air balloon. The athlete jumped from a height of 11,551 meters in the Altai Krai, surpassing the previous achievement set by Polish extreme sports enthusiasts.

The jump took place in the Aleysk district of the Altai Krai. Boytsov ascended in a hot air balloon with pilot Ivan Menyailo, president of the Russian Aeronautics Sports Federation and world champion. After reaching the required altitude, the athlete left the balloon's basket and began freefalling.
During the jump, the freefall speed reached approximately 500 km/h, and the air temperature at altitude was about minus 59 degrees Celsius. The parachute opened at an altitude of 1565 meters, after which the athlete successfully landed in the Ust-Kalmansky district of the Altai Krai.
The previous world record in this category belonged to athletes from Poland – they jumped from a hot air balloon from a height of 10,060 meters. Boytsov's new result was 11,551 meters. The total flight time was 7 minutes and 19 seconds.
In addition to the parachutist's record, the balloon's ascent also set a new achievement for the flight altitude of a hot air balloon. Previously, this indicator belonged to Fyodor Konyukhov and Ivan Menyailo, who in 2025 ascended to a height of 10,678 meters.
