AI model developer MWS AI (MTS) and Rubytech jointly conducted tests of Russian large language models on hardware and software complexes (HSC) with Chinese GPUs. The testing was part of the preparation for a commercial launch scheduled for next year.

During the tests, two MWS AI models were launched on the HSC: the older Cotype Pro 3 (27 billion parameters) and the lighter Cotype Light 3 (9 billion parameters). Five variants of Chinese chips were considered for the tests. According to "Vedomosti", in certain inference scenarios, the HSC on Chinese GPUs showed results comparable to systems based on Nvidia H100.
Anton Yudin, Head of AI Technology Development in "Skala^r" products at Rubytech Group, explained that the company is currently refining the HSC after piloting. The first version will be primarily focused on inference, with the possibility of adding fine-tuning later.
In parallel, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, together with electronics developers and manufacturers, is exploring the possibility of introducing a scoring system to assess the localization of chips used in AI systems. Currently, "Baikal Electronics" and "NTC Module" are working on domestic AI accelerators. However, the production of a modern powerful AI chip with 12–14 nm topology in Russia is impossible due to the lack of full-cycle factories, so the use of Chinese chips remains the only alternative.
