On August 18, Rostec announced that ODC had completed the preparation of design documentation and approved the layout of the VK-1600S turboprop engine. The 1450 hp power unit will solve the problem of developing the light aircraft TVS-2DTS ("Baikal").

One of the problems of the TVS-2DTS was precisely the choice of a suitable engine, and Russian small aviation in general needs a mass modern engine to replace outdated power units.
Dmitry Baranov, a leading expert at Finam Management, explained that the TVS-2DTS is capable of completely solving the problem of accessibility of remote regions.
The TVS-2DTS is a light turboprop aircraft, already certified and actually acting as a workhorse for Eastern Siberia and the Far East.
Recall that the prototype of "Baikal" was built on the basis of the American turboprop engine Honeywell TPE331-12UAN and foreign avionics. In its original form, it never went into production. In fact, it can be called almost a copy of the An-2, but the main differences are in the all-composite design and the transition to a turboprop engine.
